LEARNING AND TEACHING ABOUT THE IMPACT OF NEW INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES IN MEDICAL EDUCATION IN GENERAL PRACTICE/FAMILY MEDICINE

AIMS OF THE COURSE At the end of the course the participants will: - Know the new forms of information technology (IT) used in teaching family medicine - Understand the roles that these new methods play in education and practice - Know how to use some of these methods in teaching - Value the use of new technologies in education - Appreciate the limits of the use of these tools and their appropriate use in education During the course keynote presentations, group work, role-play, fieldwork and discussions will be held. Country reports on research in GP/FP are welcome. A selected number of reports will be allocated to be presented to the audience during the Saturday morning plenary session. Abstracts should be sent to the address below by July 15, 2010. Course directors will evaluate the contributions and will notify you on the acceptance of the presentation by the August 31. Contributions will be assigned as oral or poster presentations. SOCIAL EVENTS: During conference: trekking, dancing lessons, Bled sightseeing, vine inspection, waterpolo game, farewell dinner, etc. will take place. The participants will learn some basics in popular dances under the supervision of a professional dance teacher. The dancing class appropriate for the beginners and advanced dancers. Traditional water polo game between the Slovene participants and colleagues from abroad will take place. During the fieldwork you will have the opportunity to visit local family doctors and practices as well local primary health care centre in Bled. GENERAL INFORMATION: The course will be held in English, located in Bled, Slovenia. Bled is a tourist resort in the Northwest of Slovenia on the border to Italy and Austria and is easily accessible by car, train or plane. The nearest airport Ljubljana is only 25 km away. The price of bed & breakfast ranges from 46 to 66 EUR per night per person. Reservation requests will be confirmed on a first come, first served basis. The deadline is August 20th. In the case that your choice at that time is no longer available an alternative accommodation will be offered by the organisers. The course fee is set at 300 EURO (V.A.T. included) and will include organisation of the course, course attendance, fieldwork, refreshments during the brakes, lunch during lunch brakes from Tuesday to Friday and the participation in exciting social events including farewell dinner. EURACT members pay a reduced fee of 250 EURO (V.A.T. included), members of VdGM group pay 120 EURO (V.A.T. included).
